Project-Based Voucher/LIHTC

The Project-Based Voucher (PBV) Program is part of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program. In order to utilize the PBV program, you must apply to reside in one of our LIHTC properties. The assistance is attached to the rental units. This means if you live in a rental unit under the PBV program and move, the assistance stays with the property. The PBV program differs from the Section 8 program which is a tenant-based voucher. If you have a tenant-based voucher and move, the assistance can be applied to another eligible rental unit.  Tenants residing in Project-Based Voucher Units pay 30 percent of their income for rent and utilities. The balance of their housing costs is paid by the AHA. Tenants in Project-Based Voucher units are assisted as long as they live in the unit and continue to qualify for the program. To receive assistance for a PBV unit a family must first be on the PBV waiting list. A family may only apply to be placed on PBV waiting lists if the waiting list is open. To apply for an open waiting list, please complete the PBV waiting list pre-application.
